A Visual Identity Rooted in Faith

The St. Genevieve Catholic Church logo was created to reflect the faith, history, architecture, and Catholic heritage of our parish. Every element draws inspiration from something meaningful to St. Genevieve, bringing together symbols of our patroness, our church, and our place within the Catholic community of Lafayette.



The result is an identity that is distinctly St. Genevieve—rooted in our history while carrying the parish forward for generations to come.

THE STORY WITHIN OUR MARK

  • FLEUR DE LIS

    A reference to Saint Genevieve’s Parisian origin and a symbol of the Cajun-French Catholic heritage of our parish.

  • ROSE WINDOW

    The circular form and eight lobes mirror the rose window on the façade of St. Genevieve Catholic Church, grounding the identity in the architecture of our parish home.

  • MARIAN STAR

    The eight-point star represents the Blessed Virgin Mary, a guiding light of faith subtly incorporated into the center of the mark.

  • THE CANDLE

    At the heart of the logo is a candle inspired by the legend of Saint Genevieve’s unquenchable flame. It represents Christ as the Light of the World and the triumph of faith over darkness. The flame also forms the upper point of the Marian star, uniting these two symbols into a single focal point.

  • DIOCESAN NODES

    Eight red connectors, adapted from the Diocese of Lafayette crest, represent unity, continuity, and St. Genevieve’s place within the broader Acadiana Church.

  • SACRED ORNAMENTATION

    Intricate details inspired by the restored interior of St. Genevieve reflect the sacred craftsmanship, beauty, and reverence found throughout the church itself.

INSPIRED BY ST. GENEVIEVE

The colors of the St. Genevieve identity were drawn directly from the church itself—from its brick exterior and natural wood tones to its stained glass, sacred ornamentation, candlelight, altar linens, and interior finishes. Together, they create a visual expression that feels both authentic to the physical church and reverent to the Catholic faith celebrated within it.

DISTINCTLY ST. GENEVIEVE

From the rose window above the church doors to the candle at the center of the emblem, the new identity brings together the sacred details that have long been part of St. Genevieve.

It is a mark designed not simply to identify our parish, but to tell its story—a Catholic community rooted in faith, united with the Church, and carrying the light of Christ forward.
